On an interesting side note, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella admitted in a recent interview at Business Insider that it was a mistake to abandon Windows Phone, or that the whole episode could have been handled in a better way. I think even most Apple haters will agree that neither Microsoft, nor Google are generally seen as more trustworthy than Apple. On the other hand I strongly believe that Apple is here really the best choice in terms of privacy when you think of big tech. I know that some very privacy focused people have a problem with this. In other words, you have to use iCloud in order to benefit from most newer interoperability features. Naturally, many of these things only work if you are signed into all your devices with the same iCloud user. Finally, there is also Handoff for continuing tasks on another device, but to be honest: I (personally) rarely use it if I start writing on the iPad and want to polish the text later on the Mac I simply save the file in iCloud. And of course iCloud: I use Dropbox less and less as the Files app on iPhone and iPad gets better with each release and syncing photos really works now very well and totally transparent.Super useful for copying transaction codes or other small things And one of my favorites: copy & paste across devices. The new NameDrop that Apple also launched yesterday is another useful application of the same base technology You can use AirDrop to quickly share files peer-to-peer between any Apple device (I use this all the same when testing new Mac binaries or for sharing full-resolution photos). If you play music from your iPhone you can raise your Apple Watch to skip to the next song or adjust the volume.Very convenient when checking into a hotel for the first time - try this using a PC and your Android phone. If you join a Wi-Fi network on one device your other devices will also instantly know about the network. The other major magnet that draws people to Apple's ecosystem is (in my opinion) the interoperability between the individual devices - just think about a few things Apple introduced over the years that might be only small things, but that are really practical: It is also what Apple nearly messed up a couple of years ago, but recently again improved on a lot (especially with making the Mac more and more iOS-like where it makes sense). I think that this consistent behavior across platforms is what many Apple users really like and what draws them to the Apple ecosystem (or the other way round, let's them stick around). You need to tilt your wrist to look at your watch before double tapping." "The one thing you have to get used to is that the watch only listens for the double tap gesture when the display is fully-on. I think that the new double tap will come in very handy for such use cases. I personally remember a few cases where I wanted to stop a timer or get rid of an incoming message or call on Apple Watch while cooking or training and I had only one hand free. How you double-tap on your watch according to Apple: "Users can tap the index finger and thumb of their watch hand together twice to quickly perform many of the most common actions." Note that this is exactly the same way how double-tap works (in terms of how you perform the gesture) on Apple's new Vision Pro headset which will launch early next year in the US. It was developed by Bill Atkinson of Apple Computer (now Apple Inc.) for their Lisa project." Double-clicking allows two different actions to be associated with the same mouse button. "A double-click is the act of pressing a computer mouse button twice quickly without moving the mouse. In a way it is a logical evolution of the two dimensional double tap that we use on iPhone and iPad which in turn is a natural extension of double-click on the Mac (or prior, the Apple Lisa). Just think about the new three dimensional double tap on Apple Watch that just launched yesterday with watchOS 10.1. While this is certainly an important part of Apple's strategy I believe that the "positive lock-in" that they achieve via (relative) consistent good usability and interoperability across their platforms weighs much more. Many Apple critics argue that Apple locks users into their closed ecosystem via things such as special cables (actually a thing of the past now) or relatively closed systems such as iCloud or Apple Music. 12/30/2023 0 Comments Checkmate boat accessoriesThe boat was a bit of a disaster as it had some significant structural issues (they were just learning now to build them). This was before he formally launched Checkmate and was running his dealership / marine repair business. My family comes from that part of Ohio and back in the 50’s my dad purchased one of the first all fiberglass boats Bill built. Put a 450 on it and it should be a low to mid 80s rig that will keep your attention and scare a few passengers. I was ready to buy it from him at the shootout this year and he decided that it wasn't time yet. Its the only toon besides Brad Roland's that carries itself like a cat and holds air. If you are serious about a tri-toon, let me know and I will connect you with Jim Dorris "Play Craft"-his son has a very special 26 with a single 400 running 76 mph with no hop. Sad day for Checkmate, but Hydrostream went away as well. I have a 28 Skater and 1939 Chris Craft barrelback parked on my dock and am seriously considering a Tritoon - crazy how things have changed - my girlfriend thinks I’m too young for a tritoon ( sell the Skater ) but I’m not so sure - lolģ5 years ago, a Checkmate or Larson “Wildfire” w / a 115 Merc “Tower of Power” was the ultimate - now I’m eyeing up Bennington Q series Tritoon’s are everywhere as are wake boats. Hydrostreams, Allison’s, and STV’s are long gone, as are Baja’s, Fountains, and Formula’s. You took the words out of my mouth and my thoughts exactly - I’ve boated on the same ~ 12,000 acre chain of lakes ( the “Whitefish Chain” ) for the past twenty years ( I’m 46 ). Really sad to see this happen but in business today, you either change with the market demand or die. If I was forced to have one boat, it would be a tri-toon with the biggest power I could afford. I agree, its toons and or center consoles into today's world and I also completely understand it. 12/30/2023 0 Comments Hardcore runescape ironmanIf killing 3,000 cave horrors for a black mask is going to frustrate you, Ironman might not be for you! (Don’t look at my mystic robe bottom ok?) For example, the upgrades I have available as an “end game” Ironman are just raids uniques and a few niche things like nightmare drops, corp drops, some gwd items, and maybe a few others I can’t think of at the moment. These upgrades slow down overtime, eventually taking an average of 10s or 100s of hours to get your next upgrade. Getting your first rune kite shield, or even a strength amulet can make you feel just as good as getting your first major upgrade on your main account. Upgrades on an Ironman feel a lot different than on a main account.Ironman is a fresh outlook on the game and you will be interacting with at least 5x more content than you ever have by the time you hit the “mid game” ( barrows gloves, dragon defender, 70 combats, at least 60+ in all skills, etc. When starting an iron, you want to consider some things. Kinda venting, highly recommend ironman to force 100x the amount of content, late game can get a bit burnout-y. I miss the days of thinking 70 agility would take forever lol. I love watching my brothers and friends grinding through their early/midgame ironman because of how quickly they can climb. New content is exciting of course, but I feel like I'm starting to just see additional hours in front of me rather than the exciting experience of progression. It's dozens of hours for slight upgrades and it's a bit tiresome. Gone are the days of 2-3 hours to see substantial game-changing progress. In contrast, I do love the diversity of content that ironman sort of requires you to engage with, however lately, it has felt like lack of bad-rng mitigation is my main gripe. My mindset in terms of efficiency would lead me to just grind vorkath/raids non-stop for money to get upgrades. I can't imagine playing a main much again. Instead, it slows WAY down and you're grinding 12 hours for a mining level that doesn't change much of the core gameplay. What feels tough, is as you enter the endgame, it's no longer a 12 hour grind to unlock full graceful, or dragon imps for a glory, both of which unlock vast vast parts of the game. It's a drop I've spent hundreds of hours to even get the slayer level to unlock + the grind of the boss itself. I'm entering late-game ironman and I remember the actual freakout when I unlocked the hydra claw. Other forms of self-promotion may be removed at moderator discretion. The SBA’s new regulations have an effective date of August 24, 2016. While the new regulations eliminate populated joint ventures, the regulations state that a joint venture “may be in the form of a formal or informal partnership or exist as a separate limited liability company or other separate legal entity. 10, 2018), the SBA Office of Hearings and Appeals held that a mentor-protege joint venture’s failure to update its JV agreement caused the agreement to be non-compliant with the SBA’s rules, and meant that the joint venture was ineligible for an SDVOSB set-aside contract. A populated joint venture is a joint venture that employs its own workers and performs a contract using its own employees, whereas, in an unpopulated joint venture, the venturing members provide employees as subcontractors to the joint venture. Under the current regulations, a joint venture can be either populated or unpopulated. In addition to implementing the new program, the SBA’s final rule eliminates populated joint ventures – both in the mentor-protégé context, specifically, and in the small business context in general. The primary benefit of the new universal mentor-protégé program is that “ protégé and mentor may joint venture as a small business for any government prime contract or subcontract, provided the protégé qualifies as small for the procurement.” Moreover, the new regulations state that “uch a joint venture may seek any type of small business contract ( i.e., small business set-aside, 8(a), HUBZone, SDVO, or WOSB) for which the protégé firm qualifies ( e.g., a protégé firm that qualifies as a WOSB could seek a WOSB set-aside as a joint venture with its SBA-approved mentor).” The SBA’s new “universal” mentor-protégé program will be separate from, but very similar to, the SBA’s current 8(a) mentor-protégé program. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently published its much-anticipated final rule establishing a mentor-protégé program available to all small businesses, not just certain SBA-approved 8(a) contractors as is the case under the current program. 12/29/2023 0 Comments Escape game irvineYou go into the castle, do a bunch of adventurey things in a pretty cool interactive set and some amount of story (though not terribly compelling). I actively travel and seek out the best escape rooms in the US, so this review is catered specifically to enthusiasts looking for unique, high quality rooms.Ĭurse of the Black Knight - high 3/5 | Rank 63/145 (A decent room with unique elements, but was a bit off from distinguishing itself compared to standard escape rooms.)Ĭurse of the Black Knight is primarily an adventure game. I've done over 125 escape rooms in Seattle, LA, New Orleans, Houston, and the Bay Area. Your entire group is more likely to thoroughly enjoy an EscapeX game, where as only some of you may love the Hex Room, for example. Mission Escape Games and Cross Roads are also known for their quality rooms, but Mission's rooms, while fun, are not up to the production of EscapeX, and Crossroads, while top notch production, still falls short in terms of group adventure. He's delightfully nerdy and passionate and we got a chance to talk to him after one of the rooms. Staff has been helpful each time, but my favorite guy is the creator. A couple times we had to be nudged to do things we were already doing because we were having difficulty triggering the puzzle, so I don't count those as proper clues. It was done on a smaller scale and your job is to also find all the hidden jewels, money and gold which aren't pertinent to you escaping. Mafia Heist was my third and for my taste it fell a bit short of the other two in terms of the overall adventure. Less of a cluster F that way and everyone gets to contribute. There is lots to do in The Attic! You will be busy! I was worried we would need more but we did fine. We went with a group of four - each of us having a few games under our belt at the time. Super disturbing and creepy, but no real jump scares. Great production, plentiful gruesome clues. It's been real tough to find such a satisfying game since. I absolutely loved the immersion of this room and the physicality of it. We were talking about this for days after doing it. The Curse of the Black Sword is a multi-room, multi-level castle that feels utterly medieval with its macabre props and set and walls. If had to rank the games, Curse of the Black Sword would be at the top with The Attic a close second, followed by Mafia Heist. They're intuitive, plentiful and enjoyable, giving you plenty of AHA! moments to keep you going. The puzzles in the rooms are not frustrating or pointlessly misleading (which I've experienced elsewhere). It's the one I recommend to anyone new to the escape room scene. Curse of the Black Knight is still my favorite of all time and I've done over 20 rooms now, including Stash House and Red Giant in LA. I've done all three of EscapeX's rooms now and will join the masses in insisting that this place sets the bar in terms of both production and great puzzles. I did like how some of the items required manipulation to solve besides a riddle. I think if they up the game on encasing the keys in more puzzles it would be worth 5 stars. That took away from some of the fun and difficulty. In the previous escape room, any keys needed to unlock locks to proceed had to be found solving puzzles and riddles. While some parts were challenging others were dull and boring. We completed the Murder Manor room in 40 minutes. This is the 2nd time my friend and I have participated in an escape room challenge, and our first time here at EscapeX. Why this is not a bad thing, it can be, especially if the other party members don't work as a team and try to control everything or are just plain obnoxious. Many places, allow you to book for 1 or 2 people but then you might find yourself with a group of strangers. I recommend playing with a large group of friends. You normally have 60 minutes to complete all the puzzles in order to "escape" from the room. They are a great way to put your wits to the test. Escape rooms are the newest rage and a ton of fun. 12/29/2023 0 Comments Ray ban aviator cockpitRB3211 – This aviator shield frame was once famous back in the late 90s.
